Haiti,
half of the island of Hispaniola, with it's
Africian-French culture and turmultous history,
was a key influence on the art and life
of DXY.
It is safe to say that some of his happiest
times were spent in Haiti. When he was not
there he was longing to return. On this
Caribbean island he was not bound by his
anglo-saxon roots or his protestant upbrining.
He was an artist pure and simple.
